Update Q3 2025
his will be a regular addition to the playbook. Below are my current top positions in my Roth IRA. Going forward, I will highlight any new additions as well as positions I’ve chosen to take profit on or exit from. I am currently up 33% on the year.
When selecting positions for my Roth, I typically rely on news articles and what I call “following my eyes.” By that, I mean I let trends, headlines, and overall market buzz guide many of my decisions—something that might sound counter to traditional investing wisdom.
I believe long-term investing has been unnecessarily overcomplicated. In particular, I find the concept of value investing—especially with rigid frameworks like the Benjamin Graham number—to be of little use in today’s market. That kind of analysis fails to capture the reality of emerging sectors like AI and technology.
AI and tech companies today are pouring money into R&D and taking on high upfront costs with little near-term revenue, all in the pursuit of capturing even 1% of the massive AI market that is clearly on the horizon. If you rely solely on traditional metrics and valuation methods based on book value, you’ll likely be left behind in the AI boom.
